Finding research opportunities at the institute previously consisted of lead investigators editing a long spreadsheet of available research positions. Uncertainty about the accuracy and truthfulness of information in the spreadsheet caused skepticism from students leading them to not apply. Working as the primary designer on the student-facing experience & design system, I built a platform for students to discover and apply to research projects so that they can navigate simplified, concise information with trust.
Informed by extensive user research, the platform prioritizes glanceability so that students can have straightforward details on how to get involved reducing time or frustration getting information relevant to them. This solution closes the gap of investigators spending precious time processing applications and students having a clunky experience applying to positions.
